A Space to Play

A Space to Play is a publication that maps the journey of playgrounds and play spaces to help inform the future of these areas. The essay travels through time from the late 1800s to modern day, exploring the links between how children interact with spaces and equipment dedicated to them.

I used a typeface designed in collaboration with Woodmansterne Primary School to put children and their experiences at the centre of the design. The cover and the small characters dotted throughout the publication of A Space to Play were illustrated by Eleni Tucker; these help to add a playful tone and can be coloured in and interacted with by viewers.
