Ewelme Road Pocket Park
Urban Design
Public Space, Collaboration
The Ewelme Road Pocket Park is a proposal to fill an empty lot on the road with a pocket park, helping to add more green space to the city and a more local option for the neighbours. The park encourages children to explore nature, allowing a range of plants to grow contrasting regular grass parks. The seating options also double up as modular play system for children to stack and play with. The seating was inspired by how children interact with clay, which I explored through a small workshop, and follows the forms of gripped fingers.

The pocket park represents a holistic and community-driven approach to urban design. By embracing inclusivity, creativity, and sustainability, it aims to create a cherished public space that enriches the lives of residents, fosters community connections, and contributes to the cultural and ecological richness of Forest Hill.
