Women in Mid Century Furniture Design

Research, Curation
Women in Mid-Century Furniture Design is a publication that explore 11 women that often sat in the shadows with their designs, largely because of the success of their male counterparts but also because of the climate they worked in. This publication started as a research project to inform my own chair-building practice but the information I gathered felt important to share and key to the journey of The Trevethan.

The publication shares information about the women’s careers and well-known work alongside images of their designs, largely chair based. I also wanted to create a section of the book to share what else they designed outside of furniture as many of them also excelled in jewellery, architecture and interior design.
